W&M Weekend moved to 2021

June 26, 2020

Dear Alumni, Family and Friends,

Greetings from Williamsburg. I hope this note finds you healthy and safe during these challenging times.

As COVID-19 marches on continuing to create great uncertainty for our nation and our university, the William & Mary Alumni Association Board of Directors met last week to discuss a path forward for programming this fall. This included an in-depth conversation as to how to best move forward with our W&M Weekend in San Francisco in a thoughtful and prudent manner.

After much consideration, deliberation and evaluation of various options, we have decided to reschedule this much anticipated weekend to June 10-13, 2021. While we were looking forward to seeing you this Labor Day, the pandemic continues to cause great difficulty nationwide and we are not confident it will be safe for us to gather in large numbers come September. We also do not know how difficult it may be for people to travel in the fall. The safety and well-being of our community is our first priority and rescheduling gives us a better chance to fully enjoy this remarkable weekend with as many William & Mary alumni and friends as possible.

The W&M Weekend has created an enthusiastic following and our Weekend in San Francisco will be no exception. Our staff and board are excited to be bringing the best of William & Mary to the West Coast and the best of the Bay Area to William & Mary alumni and friends. Plans were nearing completion when the coronavirus arrived, and we look forward to bringing you an even wider variety of programs in addition to those originally planned. You will be hearing more about those in the weeks and months ahead with a complete lineup scheduled to be posted by March 2021.

For our guests who have already made reservations at the Fairmont, your booking has been transferred to the dates that match your existing reservation and you will receive a confirmation from the hotel directly. For additional information regarding existing reservations and to make new reservations please visit the accommodations page.

As always, if you have any questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact us at advevents@wm.edu or on our hotline at (757) 221-1750.

Stay safe and be well.

Sincerely,

Marilyn Ward Midyette ’75
